Goals in Germany's victory over Scotland, 5-1
With immense ease, Germany defeated Scotland 5-1 this Friday in the opening match of Euro 2024. At the Allianz Arena in Munich, the home team scored through Wirtz, Musiala, Havertz, Füllkrug, and Emre Can to take the lead in Group A. Rüdiger scored an own goal, which was Scotland's only goal. This result represents Germany's largest victory in major tournaments since the 7-1 win over Brazil in 2014.
Germany opened the scoring just 10 minutes into the match, with Wirtz finishing from the edge of the box. Nine minutes later, Musiala blasted the ball into the net to extend the lead. Near the end of the first half, Havertz scored the third from a penalty kick. During the penalty call, Scottish defender Porteous was sent off, making it easier for Germany to control the remainder of the game.
In the second half, Germany increased their dominance in possession, which ended at 73% compared to Scotland's 27%. In the 23rd minute, Füllkrug scored the fourth goal with a powerful shot from the edge of the box. In the final minutes, Rüdiger inadvertently headed the ball into his own net, giving Scotland a consolation goal. In the dying moments, Emre Can, who came on in the second half, struck a shot from outside the box to seal the scoreline.
