Goals from the game between Corinthians and Internacional, in Brazilian football.

Corinthians had everything in their hands to escape the relegation zone this Saturday (5) at Neo Química Arena. Twice ahead on the scoreboard against Internacional, the home side was left frustrated as striker Ricardo Mathias scored a beautiful backheel goal, silencing over 44,000 fans in attendance. Internacional equalized at the 48th minute of the second half, securing a 2-2 draw. With this result, Internacional climbed to 46 points, entering the G6, while Corinthians remained in the relegation zone with 29 points, currently sitting in 18th place.

Knowing exactly what was needed to get out of the relegation zone, Corinthians started the game aggressively. Their efforts were rewarded early on. In the 3rd minute, Gabriel Carvalho made a poor back pass, allowing Memphis Depay to capitalize and set up Yuri Alberto. The number 9 ran clear and slotted the ball past Rochet with no chance for the goalkeeper.

Despite the early setback, Internacional did not lose focus. Taking advantage of Corinthians' inexplicable defensive retreat, Internacional began to control the match. Cacá made a goal-line clearance to deny Alan Patrick, but at the 16th minute, the home defense couldn’t stop the equalizer. After a slick exchange of passes, Bernabei took a shot that deflected off Gustavo Henrique and found its way into Hugo Souza’s net.

Both coaches opted to keep their teams unchanged for the second half. Yuri Alberto found the back of the net again after a pass from Memphis, but he was offside, and the score stayed level.

Ramón Díaz made tactical adjustments, abandoning the diamond formation in midfield and deploying Carrillo on the right and Breno Bidon on the left, closing off the wide areas that Internacional had exploited in the first half.

The game lacked major chances until Thiago Maia handled the ball inside the box. After a VAR review, referee Lucas Torezin awarded a penalty to Corinthians. Yuri Alberto stepped up and converted, putting Corinthians back in the lead.
